COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Racine County children in crisis will soon receive 800 duffel bags filled with essential items funded by a seven thousand five hundred dollar grant from SC Johnson to Faith Hope & Love (Duffels for Kids program) that will be shared with foster care, schools, hospitals, and shelters over the next 12 months. The bags include toiletries, blankets, books, and stuffed animals (to help restore dignity and comfort) for each child in need.  Racine County Eye

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Tuesday, April 16 from 5-8 p.m., Racine County Eye will host Raise a Glass for Journalism at Uncorkt, 240 Main St.—15% of sales will go to the Education Reporting Fund to boost local education reporting.  Racine County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Wisconsin’s winter utility shutoff moratorium ends on April 15, and residents with overdue bills must arrange payments or apply for aid to avoid losing heating service. The Public Service Commission advises customers to contact their utility providers—assistance is available for low-income households—before protections end.  Racine County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • People with arthritis can lower joint pain and stiffness by doing low-impact exercises like walking, swimming, and gentle stretching—essential for easing discomfort—and using heat and cold treatments for relief.  Racine County Eye

SPORTS NEWS

  • Prairie’s boys basketball team lost 59-41 to Bonduel in the WIAA Division 4 state semifinals at the Kohl Center—ending their postseason run—and the young players praised senior leadership as they plan to build on this effort for a better season next year.  Racine County Eye
