Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 3rd of April.
Good morning, Racine.
Tuesday, Head Start providers in Wisconsin and five other Midwestern states learned that the federal agency closed its Chicago regional office and placed staff on leave, leaving program administrators without a plan for managing grants and overseeing child care services.
Jenny Mauer, executive director of the Wisconsin Head Start Association, said the unexpected move compounds recent funding issues and uncertainty about the 60-year-old program (which serves tens of thousands of children).
On Tuesday, Wisconsin voters passed a constitutional amendment that makes showing a valid photo ID a voting requirement — a change that will make it harder for future legislators to alter the law.
The amendment builds on the state law passed in 2011 and effective since 2016.
Racine residents suffer from spring allergies as tree pollen peaks from April to early June and grass pollen intensifies in mid-May.
Natural remedies like vitamin C, essential oils, and dietary changes are recommended to help reduce histamine levels and ease symptoms.
