CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Racine man was charged in connection to a fatal car crash on March 9 at 16th Street and Taylor Avenue — he now faces charges related to the deadly incident. The Journal Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A referendum on a three-year, $2.25 million plan to boost operating funds at Raymond School failed in the April 1 vote with 62.2% voting no and 37.8% voting yes, meaning the district will cut four teacher positions and 3.5 aide roles, reducing programs next school year. Superintendent Michael Leach said the board will set staffing levels at the April 22 meeting and send nonrenewal notices by April 30 — officials plan to improve outreach amid tight budgets.
