EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Scott Coey won the District 2 board seat in Racine’s April 7 school election, earning 1,072 votes against challenger Marlo Harmon amid 1,999 voters turning out, while Sarah Walker Cleaveland and Ethan Clements ran unopposed for the other seats. Racine County Eye
- ➤ UW-Parkside hosts (Power and Perception: Democracy, Enforcement and Trust in U.S. Courts) at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16 in the Student Center Ballroom in Somers, where local leaders will discuss the role of courts in shaping democracy. The Journal Times
- ➤ At an April 6 workshop, Raymond School District previewed its evolving 2026-27 budget, and Business Manager Jeff Genovese said figures such as open enrollment funding and state aid may change before a May 4 enrollment lottery and final approval in October (review meetings are also scheduled in June and August). GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers signed two bills Monday that will release over $133 million to combat PFAS water contamination. The money will fund grants for governments, public airports and private wells and add 10 DNR positions, with programs starting in summer or fall. Racine County Eye
