- ➤ Racine is set to begin replacing 500 lead service lines in residential properties this summer using $5 million in federal funds — $3.25 million of which is already secured — and work will resume as soon as weather permits. The city may face delays from a local labor shortage while state officials defend the federal lead pipe rule that aims to reduce lead exposure in drinking water. Racine County Eye

- ➤ Racine County’s planned expansion of its 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline halted after a $250,000 federal grant was canceled on March 24—county officials say they will use existing resources to keep crisis services running as they pursue legal steps to restore funding.
