- ➤ Severe thunderstorms brought dangerous flooding, five tornadoes, and widespread power outages to Racine County on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18, with emergency management coordinating sandbag distribution and road closures near the Root and Fox Rivers + assisting affected neighborhoods. - ➤ Piggly Wiggly on Durand Ave. reopened Saturday, April 18 with a makeover guided by community input. The store now features expanded fresh departments, wider aisles (designed to enhance shopping) and hosted giveaways including a visit from the Weinermobile. Racine County Eye
- ➤ John and Melanie Buchaklian opened Hye Ground Cafe at 321 Main St. (formerly Abrazo Coffee) on Feb. 21, offering Racine residents a unique blend of Armenian heritage and local flavor. The Journal Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ RUSD and Carthage College have partnered on a two-year program that lets full-time school employees earn special education licenses while working. The initiative will boost career growth for teachers in the district. The Journal Times

- ➤ County officials cited Ridglan Farms for installing an illegal manure pit (built to keep activists away) that violated local law. The Journal Times
- ➤ Last week, county officials met at a Coffee with Government Leaders event hosted at Grace Church in Burlington to discuss bridging the divide (along I-94) by sharing ideas and experiences from different community perspectives.
