- ➤ At a town hall in Racine, Martin O’Malley warned that false claims about Social Security—such as that it is a Ponzi scheme—are eroding public trust and risk future cuts. He said modest changes like raising the payroll tax cap could secure the program that many Racine County residents depend on. Racine County Eye
- ➤ At a town hall on April 24, Social Security experts warned that staff cuts and outdated technology are delaying benefits for more than 45,000 residents and urged lawmakers to act. They said that planned office moves and quiet restructuring have already caused long wait times — adding to a crisis that affects everyday Racine families. Racine County Eye
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Doctors at Ascension Wisconsin are screening patients for risky drinking to help cut the chance of getting cancer. Research shows that drinking too much can lead to liver, breast and other cancers—people are urged to check their habits and talk with their doctor. Racine County Eye

- ➤ WIAA member schools voted strongly to let high school athletes earn money from their name, image, and likeness in deals that do not involve their schools. The new rule will start at the end of May +boosting opportunities+ for student athletes. CBS58
