CRIME NEWS

  • A 17-mile high-speed pursuit from Racine County into Milwaukee County ended near Layton Avenue—when a Chevrolet crashed and deputies removed two unharmed children—with Micah Gonzalez arrested after officers found cocaine, crystal meth, MDMA, and heroin inside the vehicle.  FOX6

CULTURE NEWS

  • Racine Theatre Guild warned that tickets for its upcoming performance of 'Legally Blonde: The Musical' are being resold online for up to $635—tickets on the guild’s website cost $22 with weeks until opening night.  FOX6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Racine and RYDE Racine said they will keep transit services fair for everyone even after a letter on April 24 from U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy asked for changes to federal funding rules — city officials confirmed they will follow all state and federal laws.  Racine County Eye
  • Racine Unified explained that the referendum will cost property owners about $35 extra per year for every $100,000 in assessed value because the district qualifies for more state aid with its lower property value per student. Officials said local tax costs stayed nearly flat while state aid will increase from 32% to 38% next year.  Racine County Eye
