  • The Racine Zoo welcomed a newborn Hartmann’s Mountain zebra on April 25 at 8:38 p.m. born to Promise and Obi. The foal, the zoo’s second under the Species Survival Plan to protect vulnerable zebras—vital for global conservation—will soon be named in a public contest.  FOX6
  • Mount Pleasant is expanding its tourism efforts with a summer schedule that will include a free concert series starting on June 17th (featuring acts like the Stephen Hull Experience) and events such as a bicycle race qualifier and chalk art festival, while the village renewed its partnership with Visit Racine County and increased its support to $625,000. Tourism Director Matt Prochaska now serves on VRC’s board to help boost local attractions and regional tourism.  Racine County Eye

  • A 19-year-old man is in grave condition after being shot in the head Tuesday, April 29 on Racine's north side & police responded at 8:30 p.m. to the 2300 block of Erie Street with the suspect still at large.  Racine County Eye

  • About 70 demonstrators gathered outside the Racine Social Security office on Wednesday, April 30 + they delivered baked goods and thank-you cards to staff while protesting federal changes that led to workforce cuts and office closures.  Racine County Eye
