EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Racial & Social Justice Racine will host The Passions Project DEFEND, not Defund on May 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Memorial Hall, 72 7th Street. The exhibition will showcase 50 portraits, student passion displays and a live panel discussion; it is funded by an NEA Community Advocacy grant. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Racine Unified School District and city officials broke ground on May 11 at Walden III for a $21.3 million facility update that will add new classrooms, ADA modifications, safety upgrades, and energy-saving solar panels—funded by a close referendum vote. Construction will begin June 15 and finish by summer 2027. Racine County Eye

- ➤ State and local officials are investigating possible contamination from a nearby manure trench at Ridglan while two organizations opposed to using dogs in research inked a deal on April 18 to buy 1,500 beagles. The Journal Times
