EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Raymond School Board confirmed its officer positions and committee assignments at its May 13 meeting, re-electing Audrey Kostuch as board president while appointing Mike Powers as vice president, Ed Robinson as treasurer and Jenny Gonzalez as clerk. Gonzalez will serve as the CESA delegate and Powers as the WASB delegate with Gonzalez set to attend the CESA meeting on June 17 at 7 p.m. and all roles in effect until the April 2026 election.  Racine County Eye
  • Parents in Racine are asked to sign consent forms for activities such as school trips, sports, and doctor visits — a legal safeguard that explains the activity and risks.   • A 2022 NIH study shows that bans on handheld phone use while driving can cut nearly 70 traffic deaths per state—29 states have passed such laws, but Wisconsin only bans texting and phone holding in construction zones.   • Alder Malik Frazier, who began Army Reserve Officer Candidate School training on April 27 and will return on July 25, said he did not abandon his post and had informed city officials before leaving.
