- ➤ Cree Lighting laid off 200 workers in two rounds at its Washington Ave. facility while UNFI plans to cease operations at its Sturtevant distribution center with employee separations starting June 20; legal issues continue as the community faces rising job uncertainty. Racine County Eye
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Horlick senior Devyn Vaughn, honored at prom, will start college after receiving a scholarship (worth $2,000) from Koos for Kids and acceptance to Shepherd’s College in Union Grove, where he will live on campus; he has also pursued a culinary pathway with teacher guidance. Racine County Eye
- ➤ RUSD reached a tentative agreement with unions on Wednesday for base wages for the 2026-27 school year; the deal covers both instructors and building service staff. The district will move ahead with the new pay scale as the school year approaches. The Journal Times
