- ➤ Racine will mark its 50th Annual Juneteenth Festival from June 6 to 14 by hosting cultural, STEM and community events including a Sneaker Ball 3.0 kickoff at Festival Hall and a flag raising at the Dr. John Bryant Community Center—street closures on Caron Butler Drive, Roosevelt Park Drive and Wisconsin Avenue have been planned for safety. - ➤ Bri Hatch will join Racine County Eye as an education reporter on July 7 through the Report for America program, where they will focus on Racine public schools and student stories. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Racine officials will consider awarding a $589,660 contract to A.W. Oakes and Son, Inc. for the Uptown Green Infrastructure Project at the June 3 council meeting. The project will reduce flooding, improve water quality and revitalize public spaces—funded with $364,660 from city accounts and a $225,000 Wisconsin DNR grant. Racine County Eye
- ➤ On Tuesday, June 3, at 6 p.m., the Racine Common Council will meet in the Community Room at the Racine Public Library to discuss employee health care, crime prevention measures, street renaming and street closures for the Juneteenth Festival. The council will also review public works contracts, licensing issues and budget priorities to guide the city's future actions — residents can attend in person or watch via live stream.
