COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Racine native De’Marius Bogguèss published his first book, The Art of Networking, a guide to building meaningful connections that is available on Amazon — he will host a book signing at the Racine Public Library soon.  Racine County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Tuesday, the Racine County Executive Committee tabled a resolution that would have condemned racially insensitive behavior at a May 7 track meet at Waterford Union High School—five members voted for the delay while two opposed it. Some supervisors said the language did not cover all events and community voices warned that strong action is needed against bias.  The Journal Times
  • A measure in the House budget that would have let the federal government label nonprofits as terrorist groups has been removed from the Senate bill — civil rights groups and legal experts pushed back on the vague language. Experts warn that similar provisions may appear in future legislation, posing risks to free speech and nonprofit operations.  Racine County Eye
  • A public hearing for a zoning map amendment—allowing a 618-unit housing project in Mount Pleasant—was postponed Monday due to a lack of postage.  The Journal Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Racine-area athletes competed at the 2025 WIAA State Track and Field Championships held June 6 to 7 at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse — Mike Farr of Case finished 4th in the 110m hurdles. Other competitors from Horlick and Racine Lutheran ran in sprint, hurdle, and relay events — each gaining valuable state-level experience despite not reaching the medal rounds.  Racine County Eye
  • Prairie girls soccer moved up to Division 3 after strong wins in conference and regional play and now carries championship hopes into the postseason. The team, led by seniors like Meg Decker and Norah Boerner, will face tough sectional matchups—seeking a return trip to the state tournament.  Racine County Eye
