COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A new pilot program called Benner Beats Hunger will launch on Monday, June 23 at the Geneva Street Community Oriented Policing House to serve free lunch and dinner on weekdays to local children and their parents until the end of August. The meals—served from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for lunch and at 4:30 p.m. for dinner—aim to reduce summer food insecurity in Racine. Racine County Eye
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 36-year-old man was fatally shot on the 1400 block of Marquette Street in Racine on June 18th (10:19 p.m.) when officers responded to a report of shots fired, and police are investigating with no suspect identified. Racine County Eye
- ➤ A 54-year-old Racine man was shot in the neck on Carlisle Avenue at approximately 6:23 p.m. on June 18 and is recovering while police arrested a suspect and continue to investigate the incident. Racine County Eye
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Waterford's softball season ended with a 1-0 loss to Milton as pitcher Jaydin Kiser struck out nine and Kate Stultz made key hits — the only run came from Milton's catcher on a sacrifice fly. Coach Brian Roper said the close game showed the team's challenges this season and they will work to come back stronger next spring. Racine County Eye
