COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jenna Crawford from the Racine Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society said the shelter is in crisis with nearly 400 dogs in care and more than 100 ready for adoption. The group is lowering adoption fees until June 30+ and asking locals to adopt or foster to help free up space.  CBS58
  • CBS 58 has released a schedule of parades, activities and fireworks for Independence Day across SE Wisconsin. In Racine, a parade will be held Friday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m. with fireworks at dusk at North Beach—other communities will host celebrations with flag ceremonies, carnivals and drone shows.  CBS58

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Racine Fire Department responded at 2 a.m. Sunday, June 22, to a two-story duplex on the 600 block of North Memorial Drive where an electrical issue sparked an attic fire that caused about $80,000 in damage—no one was injured and the fire was controlled within 30 minutes.  Racine County Eye

  • Willow Newell made history by becoming the first Black woman crowned Miss Wisconsin 2025 yesterday as the Racine native, 22, explained her win on FOX6 WakeUp — a milestone that marks a new chapter in the pageant's tradition.  FOX6
  • Pam Powell from Reel Talk with Chuck and Pam reviewed the films 'Elio' and 'Smoke' on this week's Racine Reels—she also interviewed Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine about 'Smoke.'  CBS58
  • Racine Zoo officials announced that events will take place in the coming days, including Music at the Zoo: Chicago Tribute Anthology on June 25, the Animal Crackers Concert Series with concerts on July 9, July 23, August 6, and August 20, and a Zoorific Saturday on June 28. Zoo leaders said reserved seating with food and drink options will be available at select events — bringing live music and family fun to the lakefront.  CBS58
