- ➤ Extreme heat in Racine has left renters at Lake Oaks Apartments without working central air conditioning since last Thursday—forcing seniors like Delores Williams and Jan Finley to rely on fans and even their car’s air to cope with dangerous temperatures and health risks such as COPD and asthma. - ➤ Racine Fire Department responded at 7:21 p.m. on Sunday, June 22nd to a porch fire at a duplex in West Racine—caused by careless use of smoking materials—that resulted in about $20,000 in damages while all six residents were safely evacuated. Racine County Eye

- ➤ Racine native Willow Newell, 22, was crowned Miss Wisconsin on June 21 in New Berlin and became the first Black woman to win the title. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Wisconsin's measles, mumps and rubella vaccination rate for 5- and 6-year-olds fell to 74.1% in 2024 from 79.3% in 2019 amid pandemic disruptions, which increases the risk of measles outbreaks as families travel this summer.
