  • Developer J. Jeffers and Company released a report showing Belle City Square met expectations in 2024 by creating 50 full-time jobs + supporting 65 construction jobs. The project, funded by $21 million in New Markets Tax Credits, aims to revitalize the neighborhood and draw new businesses to Racine.  The Journal Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Drowsy Chaperone is playing at Racine Theatre Guild (2519 Northwestern Avenue) and began on July 18; it will run through July 27. Shows occur Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m., and tickets cost ($22 for adults, $20 for seniors, $17 for students).  CBS58

  • Experts warn that a Supreme Court ruling that allowed over 1,300 layoffs at the federal Department of Education—reducing its workforce from 4,133 to 2,183 as of March 11—may delay student loan processing and slow Pell Grant payments for Wisconsin students, forcing colleges and schools to step in.  The Journal Times
