  • Racine County is affected by an air quality advisory as the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources issued a state warning that will last until noon today.  The Journal Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Racine faces a loss of millions in housing funds next year as the 2025 federal budget cuts HUD spending by 44% and ends programs such as the Community Development Block Grant and reduces the Emergency Solutions Grant. The city will have to cover extra costs for services like code enforcement and infrastructure upgrades from its general fund while the state offers no replacement funding—forcing local officials to explore tough options.  Racine County Eye
  • On Monday, Racine’s CDBG Advisory Board approved a $1.74M federal spending plan to fund housing, code enforcement, and social services while officials expressed concern that too little is allocated for needed neighborhood repairs & the plan now goes to the Common Council for final approval before submission to HUD by August 16.  Racine County Eye
