- ➤ The Hospitality Center lost 15 senior workers when a federal funding program ended, leaving only six part-time staff to serve 150 daily guests and forcing a scale-back of services while relocation efforts stall. - ➤ A 15-year-old girl was pulled from the water at Carre-Hogle Park near 16th Street and Wisconsin Avenue on Thursday evening; rescuers battled 20—25 mph winds and three-foot waves before bringing her to a hospital and transferring her to Froedtert Hospital, where she is in critical condition. - ➤ Police said a 23-year-old man was charged after his vehicle crashed through an exterior wall and entered a classroom at Olympia Brown School. The Journal Times

- ➤ Lawmakers introduced a bipartisan bill to let small police departments use state grants to cover academy and field training costs if new recruits serve at least one year — but the measure stalled in committee when the state budget did not fund it — and they plan a public hearing to discuss future funding. - ➤ U.S. Rep. Bryan Steil held a listening session Thursday evening at Elkhorn High School in Elkhorn where he defended policies on immigration, tariffs and SNAP work requirements amid loud cheers and boos from a divided crowd. Steil, who represents the 1st District covering areas including Racine, answered questions on border security, economic policy and climate change—he urged respect during the session as he explained his views.
