EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Mitchell School opened a new bus drop-off center during a ribbon cutting on Aug. 28—this renovation added modern learning spaces, a new gym, and other upgrades funded by a 2020 referendum. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Historic William Horlick High School held its ribbon cutting on Aug.29 to open its renovated interior, which replaced the pool with a new fitness center and updated classrooms, lighting, and ADA improvements—funded by the 2020 referendum, officials and community members praised the work. - ➤ S.C. Johnson Elementary has opened a new gym and completed renovations including a new library, HVAC upgrades, and ADA improvements for the 2025-26 school year. Community members gathered on Aug. 28 to celebrate a project funded by the district’s $1 billion referendum approved in 2020 — showing Racine’s commitment to enhancing its schools. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Students and parents toured the new Schulte K-8 School during an open house on Wednesday afternoon—photos show their smiles and delight with the fresh facility. The Journal Times
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ High school girls in Racine County began their golf season in mid-August with several meets at local courses—teams from Prairie, Case and Union Grove posted strong scores and individual highlights. The contests ran from August 14 to 22 and featured close matches and notable rounds that set the stage for the season. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Racine County high school girls tennis teams started their season strong from Aug. 8—13, with Union Grove winning all seven of its matches. Other teams such as Case, Waterford, Burlington, Prairie, Horlick/Park and Catholic Central also recorded key wins as players showed promise for the rest of the season. Racine County Eye
