- ➤ Former corrections supervisor Jacqueline Heidt was sentenced to 18 months in prison (with two years of extended supervision and two years of probation) after she pleaded no contest to charges of sexual assault and misconduct following an inappropriate relationship with an inmate at Racine Correctional Institution. - ➤ As classes begin, RCSO announced a focus on cracking down on reckless driving in school zones—Sheriff Christopher Schmaling urged parents to review vehicle safety with young drivers. The Journal Times
- ➤ A Racine court sentenced Jacqueline Heidt, a Correctional Institute supervisor, to four-and-a-half years in prison for having an inappropriate relationship with an inmate that began in April 2022—she met with the inmate three to four times each week in her office. CBS58
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Schulte K-8 School in Sturtevant held its first day on Tuesday, Sept. 2, with nearly 800 students welcomed by RUSD Superintendent Soren Gajewski. The brand new $64 million facility — funded by a referendum approved in 2020 — replaced the old school building and parking lot. Racine County Eye
