GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Racine County Circuit Court Judge Eugene Gasiorkiewicz ruled that Daniel Riedel is entitled to have Union Grove High School cover his attorney and expert fees from the school district’s attempt to condemn 80 acres of his land—no fee amount has been set as more records are pending. Riedel must prove his fees were reasonable at a Nov. 14 hearing while attorneys submit additional details by Sept. 26 and Oct. 10 before a final decision is reached. The Journal Times

- ➤ Sports writer Peter Jackel retired from the Journal Times on Sept. 5 after 46 years of covering Racine sports—his career earned him over 70 awards and made him a respected figure in the local sports community. The Journal Times
