COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Racine installed no swimming signs and life ring buoys at Carre-Hogle Park after a summer drowning spurred safety changes—Mayor Cory Mason said the measures give clear warnings and life-saving support while fire, health, and parks officials continue to share water safety videos with the community.  CBS58

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Microsoft said it is looking at 244 acres in Caledonia for a new data center during a Village Board meeting Tuesday—if approved, the project would add up to $1.6 million in tax revenue and create hundreds of jobs while some residents expressed concerns about water and energy.  The Journal Times
  • Microsoft representatives visited Caledonia on Sept. 24 to discuss plans for a 244-acre data center along Highway 32 near Seven Mile Rd, a proposal that raised concerns among local residents about light pollution, noise, and traffic impacts. Some locals suggested moving the project to the town's designated industrial area to keep Caledonia as it is.  CBS58

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Racine enhanced water safety measures at Carre Hogle Park on Lake Michigan after two drownings raised concerns over unsupervised swimming areas. A team from the Fire, Public Health and Parks departments installed clear bilingual 'No Swimming' signs and life ring buoys — steps taken to reduce future risks.  FOX6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Racine released water records after environmental group Milwaukee Riverkeeper sued—alleging the city failed to respond to a public records request made in February. The records release followed the lawsuit—prompting officials to comply with public records law.  The Journal Times
  • Caledonia residents voiced frustration after a Sept. 24 meeting on a proposed Microsoft data center on 245 acres that need rezoning west of the We Energies power plant. Some residents raised concerns about noise and stormwater drainage while others supported progress as the Caledonia Plan Commission will soon recommend the next step.  FOX6
