GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former economic development leader Missy Hughes announced her campaign Monday to run for governor—she plans to use her WEDC record to boost Wisconsin's economy with higher wages, affordable housing and stronger support for families. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Hundreds of residents gathered Monday night at Caledonia Village Hall to debate a proposed Microsoft data center near the We Energies power plant—officials are reviewing rezoning of 244 acres of farmland to allow the project, which promises to boost tax revenue and fund schools and public safety while critics worry about environmental and grid impacts. The village board will vote on the project on Oct. 14. FOX6
- ➤ The Caledonia Plan Commission met Monday to discuss rezoning 245 acres for a new Microsoft data center planned near the We Energies power plant—neighbors shared worries about noise, water use, and light pollution. The area must be zoned for light industry before Microsoft can build its third facility in Racine County. FOX6
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ On Sept. 26, the Case Eagles won 41-0 against Kenosha Indian Trail in a Southeast Conference game—senior Brayden Lipari led the offense and coach Anton Graham said the team showed strong unity to turn their season around. The win improved their record to 4-2 and sets them up to host Oak Creek next Friday. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Racine County high schools held games on Monday and are hosting soccer and volleyball events today while the week continues with additional tennis and football matchups. Key contests include a Friday football game featuring Union Grove—Waterford at 7 p.m., a contest that could impact the season. Racine County Eye
