- ➤ Racine and Wind Point officials are planning a redesign of Shoop Park Golf Course near the Wind Point Lighthouse—where plans include adding 12 holes, a dog-walking trail, and a new clubhouse—and a public meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 at The Prairie School gymnasium on Lighthouse Drive as approvals continue. - ➤ Melissa Terranova celebrated National Coffee Day in her third-grade classroom at Gifford School by creating Terranova’s Learning Café where students worked on math problems themed after different Starbucks menu items—regional Starbucks employees visited to support the activity. - ➤ At its Sept. 16 meeting, the Sturtevant Village Board accepted former Village President Stuart Ten Cate's immediate resignation—village officials plan to decide soon on a process to select a new village president and police chief. The Journal Times
- ➤ The Caledonia Plan Commission approved a land use amendment + rezone for a Microsoft data center project. Microsoft said last week it will use parcels on Douglas Avenue + Botting Road to build the center. The Journal Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ As of Oct. 1, Ascension Wisconsin is no longer in-network for UnitedHealthcare, leaving patients in Racine to face higher out-of-pocket costs or switch providers—both sides remain open to further negotiations. Racine County Eye
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Racine County boys soccer teams played several matches last week as WIAA playoffs start Oct. 21 and Oct. 25—St. Catherine’s tied Prairie 1-1 on Wednesday and also beat Martin Luther 10-1 and Burlington 5-2 while Union Grove and Park gained momentum with key wins and ties. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Union Grove won the girls golf tournament at the Southern Lakes Conference in Kansasville last Tuesday—Prairie finished second in its first SEC tournament at Rivermoor Country Club. Burlington Co-op won every event in girls swim and dive, and Burlington and Prairie won the boys and girls cross country titles at the Racine Invite meet in Burlington School Forest.
