BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Village officials said Meijer will build a new store in Mount Pleasant at 5729 Washington Avenue after six months of talks—this new location will be one of the few in the region and is expected to be built in a typical timeframe of 12 to 18 months once work begins. Racine County Eye
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ J.I. Case High School junior Grayson Kirch directed a Halloween-themed reimagining of Michael Jackson’s Thriller with local friends in Racine — the video, Thriller Reimagined, has gathered over 70,000 views online. He plans a Christmas-themed project in December to further expand his filmmaking work. Racine County Eye
- ➤ On Oct. 6, the Raymond School Board reviewed the school budget and set plans for a public hearing on Oct. 14 at 6:00 p.m. at Raymond School—residents will vote on five resolutions covering staffing cuts, a new Community Service Fund, and a slight tax rate increase. Racine County Eye
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Attorney General Josh Kaul announced Tuesday that he will run for reelection in 2026 and removed his name from the governor’s race—he said he would defend Wisconsin against federal overreach. He has served as AG since 2018 and won a narrow second term in 2022. Racine County Eye
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Racine County high school teams are set for a busy rivalry week from October 6-11 — with competitions in football, soccer, volleyball, tennis, golf, swim and cross country scheduled across several schools. Today, athletes are competing in boys soccer at Racine Lutheran along with various sectional events in tennis and golf at different venues. Racine County Eye
- ➤ The Prairie School girls’ golf team finished third at the WIAA Division 2 Sectional at Meadowbrook Country Club—six shots behind Wisconsin Dells with a score of 395. Coach Carrie Massey said the team faced tough weather and will work to improve before next week’s state tournament. Racine County Eye
