COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Por La Gente, a local Latino group dedicated to education and culture, is inviting community members to join its Halloween Trivia Night on October 17 in Racine. The event will help raise funds for scholarships + support local families in need.  CBS58
  • Cari Greving from Visit Racine County told CBS 58 that Michelle Gibbons—an acclaimed historical presenter—will hold a lecture on the dark legacy of Dahmer and Gein and that no registration is needed.  CBS58
  • Quarry Lake Park reopens for fishing with park hours running from sunrise to sunset—while the Karen A. Nelson Dog Park stays open all year.  The Journal Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Racine Campus of the Wisconsin Humane Society is offering fall youth programs for students from K4 to 12th grade that include field trips, lessons and interactive activities aligned with state and national standards. Schools must pre-register for in-person and virtual sessions with fees starting at $50 for the first 30 students and $2 for each additional student (for in-person visits).  CBS58

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new federally qualified health center will open in January at Ascension All Saints—designed to help with problems of substance misuse, behavioral health and access to quality care. OCHC said the center marks a major step—tackling long-term health challenges in Racine County.  The Journal Times
