CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Racine County Eye is asking local residents to share ghost stories about haunted places in Racine County for its Made in Racine podcast series with submissions open until Oct. 21. The first episode will be recorded live on Oct. 24 at the historic Masonic Center+ local historians and community members will also share their experiences. Racine County Eye
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Raymond School started a lean year with a balanced budget after voters rejected referendums — the district cut electives, reduced staff, and moved world language to virtual lessons to save money. The board set a new tax levy and created a small fund for facility upgrades as the school plans for the 2025–26 year. Racine County Eye
- ➤ Prairie School received the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Award of Excellence for the 2024–25 school year—one of 39 schools honored for athletic achievement. The Journal Times
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lawmakers are circulating a draft bill that would require insurers to cover infertility treatments, a move that could help couples avoid tens of thousands of dollars in costs and join 22 other states in providing such coverage. Rep. Jodi Emerson and Sen. Kelda Roys lead the proposal, saying infertility is a medical issue that should be both affordable and accessible. Racine County Eye

- ➤ Badger football beat Waterford 34-10 Friday night to keep its 8-0 record in conference play and set up a winner-take-all title game with Union Grove tomorrow— the winner will be crowned Southern Lakes Conference champion. Coach Matt Hensler celebrated his 150th win and said the team will work to fix mistakes before the next matchup. Racine County Eye
- ➤ On Oct 9, the St. Catherine’s High School Angels beat St. Francis 53—0 at St. Thomas More in a chilly football game that built playoff momentum—senior Lamont Hamilton, quarterback Eddie Vinson, and sophomore Jovanni Gonzalez all stood out.
