EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On October 27, 2025, kindergartner Angel Martz used a new all terrain wheelchair on a Racine Unified School District field trip at River Bend Nature Center. The district spent about $15K to buy three chairs — boosting access for all students on nature trips. Racine County Eye
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Racine County organizations are teaming up to provide food for residents during the shutdown because the Wisconsin Department of Health Services said new SNAP funds will not be issued until it ends (local groups are working to fill the gap in federal aid). The Journal Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Eligible residents in Kenosha and Racine counties can receive up to 85% payment for lead removal work in their homes—covering abatement tasks like encapsulation and in some cases window, door, or siding replacement. The Journal Times
- ➤ Gov. Tony Evers announced Monday that health insurance rates on HealthCare.gov will rise 45% to 800% in Wisconsin for 2026 when enhanced tax credits end in December. Over 310,000 people bought coverage in 2025 and open enrollment for 2026 starts Nov. 1 (some counties are expected to see over 100% increases). Racine County Eye
