COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Racine’s Safe Haven Baby Box at RFD Station 4 received its first infant surrender—on-duty firefighters and emergency medical personnel provided immediate care before the baby was taken to Ascension All Saints hospital for evaluation.  The Journal Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Racine County has released new job postings for local residents seeking career opportunities, and interested applicants can browse the listings to find openings.  The Journal Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Racine Unified School District set its tax rate at $7.93 per $100K for the 2025—26 school year so a home valued at $200,000 will cost about $1,586 per year. An April referendum approved the increase and higher special education reimbursement will help cover rising costs.  Racine County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Racine Health Department has activated several warming centers for residents to use during extreme cold, including spaces at community centers and public buildings. The centers operate on set weekday hours and may extend their schedules during cold alerts — residents are advised to confirm hours before visiting.  Racine County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • Paul Woodward, chairman of Safe Water In Mind, said that after two youths drowned in Lake Michigan, the group will offer summer water safety lessons and work with local partners to bring open-water training to schools and the community. He presented the plan with Alderman Tyler Townsend at the Racine Public Library meeting—aiming to add safety gear along high-risk lake areas and reduce future drownings.  Racine County Eye

SPORTS NEWS

  • After Tuesday’s games ended, today high school sectionals in volleyball and soccer begin at local high schools—teams compete for playoff spots as Friday’s football matches and Saturday’s cross country and swim meets approach.
