COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Downtown Racine will host its holiday parade and tree lighting on Saturday — festivities will begin at 4:30 p.m. at Monument Square.  The Journal Times
  • Racine will host its 4th Holiday Parade and Tree Lighting on November 8 with pre-parade festivities starting at 4:45 p.m. at Monument Square and the parade beginning at 5:30 p.m. from the west side of the State Street Bridge—ending at City Hall around 6:45 p.m. before the tree lighting and fireworks at 6:50 p.m.  Racine County Eye

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Deionta Malone of Josephine’s Home of the Lemon Pepper Taco has built a strong local following in Racine by serving his signature lemon pepper tacos at 2051 Mead Street since 2023. He plans to move his business to downtown Racine early next year — the new space will double his kitchen and add a jazz and blues bar.  Racine County Eye

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Thousands of Racine County residents who depend on SNAP face uncertainty this month as the federal government supplies only about half the usual benefits due to the ongoing shutdown — county officials say partial FoodShare payments will be issued while local businesses like Lee’s Deli boost support for those in need.  Racine County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • Consumers using the Affordable Care Act marketplace for 2026 face higher premiums and fewer plan choices as open enrollment, which began Nov. 1 and ends Jan. 15, continues; statewide premiums are expected to rise by about 17.4% with some counties seeing even sharper increases. Experts advise checking plan details and seeking navigator help (since enhanced premium tax credits may end by year’s close) to find affordable coverage.  Racine County Eye
