COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Veterans Outreach of Wisconsin Executive Director Michael Rembalski thanked Racine for its support at the tiny home village on Yout Street, where a 16th home—funded by local business donations—was added with plans for two more next spring or summer if funding allows. The village provides transitional housing and a marketplace that will offer up to 400 Thanksgiving baskets and relies on volunteers for holiday support.  Racine County Eye

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Stitched Quilt Shop opened (505 6th Street) on Nov. 7 in Racine, and owner Autumn Latimore said the store offered quilting supplies and will start classes later this month including a community quilts program for local foster families.  Racine County Eye
  • A new quilt shop has opened in Downtown Racine, fulfilling a woman's long-held dream (it offers a curated selection of contemporary cottons, African and Asian prints, cross-stitch supplies, and specialty notions). The shop will host trunk shows and monthly clubs (providing regular events for local quilters).  The Journal Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Residents living near Lake Michigan saw 10 inches of snow on Monday, November 10, while neighbors in Mount Pleasant measured 14 inches at 6 a.m.—city crews cleared main roads by 9:30 a.m.—and trash pick-up proceeded on schedule.  Racine County Eye
