Good morning, Racine.
🏘️ Community
At St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on November 13, 2025, community members remembered Ruben Ramon for his kind nature and for inspiring the Hospitality Center’s overnight shelter—he passed away on October 22, 2025.
A local resident voiced concern over plans to expand Shoop Park's golf course from 9 to 12 holes that would cut down trees along the shore and near the lighthouse grounds, ignoring Dr. Shoop’s wish for the park to remain public forever.
The investors Johnson/Leipold and the Keiser Group propose adding a new clubhouse and parking lot — changes critics say will harm the park's natural space — sparking calls to protect this cherished community area.
