EDUCATION NEWS

  • Racine Unified School District's high-poverty schools did better in reading and math than last year, according to state report card data from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Superintendent Soren Gajewski said twelve schools raised their scores while challenges in math and reading remain.  Racine County Eye

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ascension All Saints Hospital will start a six‐week support group on Feb 12 to help Racine smokers quit with education and peer support. The program will cover topics such as nicotine addiction, behavioral triggers and cessation options while offering follow‐up care and will allow participants to register by calling Kayla Kalbacken at (262-785-2273).  Racine County Eye

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Racine residents are invited to take a Thanksgiving poll on their favorite side dishes and desserts. The poll comes with a reminder from the American Farm Bureau Federation that the average dinner for 10 costs about $60 — a fact that underscores the planning behind the holiday meal.  Racine County Eye
