- ➤ Racine Public Library is hosting programs for kids, teens and adults from Dec. 6 to Dec. 13 while planning holiday closures on Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, and its Bookmobile will pause service from Dec. 22 until Jan. 2 with pickups available at the library building. Racine County Eye
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The MARK Rail Commission met Friday, Dec. 5 to explore a potential passenger rail line linking Racine, Milwaukee and Kenosha with Chicago and Northshore communities. Officials said public input will guide plans as they work to design a service — one that would complement the current Hiawatha route. FOX6
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Kari McGaughey became the new executive director of NAMI Racine County on Dec. 1 after serving as its advocacy manager for six months. She now leads mental health advocacy in the community. The Journal Times
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ The Racine Unified School District has placed the historic Jefferson Lighthouse School for sale after its closure in 2024 and merger with Roosevelt Elementary. School board members discussed redevelopment options at a Nov. 3 work session and are asking the public to share ideas via a three-question poll. Racine County Eye
