Opening Reception: A Room Remembers Every Echo

About this event

Celebrate the opening reception of "A Room Remembers Every Echo", a house-wide exhibition by Fall Artist-in-Residence Siri Stensberg.

Drawing inspiration from personal exchanges between Charles and Sarah Allis in the early 1900s, their visits from esteemed guests and family members, as well as Milwaukee County and Public Library operations through the 2000s, "A Room Remembers Every Echo" begs to reveal those lingering voices, whose stories span over a hundred years. Utensils of twisted wire and beads adorn the Dining Room, while a colorful maze of woven fabric engulfs the Bowling Alley. Stensberg uses found object assemblage, ambient lighting, and video projections to explore how spaces can retain conversation and memory over time.
