If you voted early in person, you're in good company. Racine City Clerk Tara McMenamin said early voting is "going well with an uptick in in-person absentee voting" at City Hall and satellite sites. As of Tue., Oct. 27, the clerk's office had 3,984 ballots back: 1,951 by mail and 2,033 from in-person absentee voters.

At about this time in 2022, the city had 3,804 ballots back: about 2,734 mailed and 1,070 in person. Statewide, mail-in absentee voting is still down while in-person early voting is up from 2022. McMenamin said the city is working with the city attorney's office and Racine Police Department to be ready for any disruptions on Election Day.

London Hadley, a senior lineman who led the state in tackles for loss during the regular season, spearheaded the effort.

“We have to come out ready to go and we have to make sure that everybody's doing their job.”

Eagles head coach Anton Graham
  • Next game: Fri., Nov. 6 at top-seeded Muskego

Layoffs

The Allstaff Group is laying off 148 workers from a Visual Pak plant in Kenosha, effective Dec. 31, according to a WARN notice. Visual Pak chose a different staffing vendor for the plant. Across the state, more than 400 workers received layoff notices from six companies in October, after only one company filed a notice with the state in September. BizTimesMilwaukee Journal Sentinel

I want to thank all the children in the Crestview area.

“We weren't home last night so we left a bucket of candy on the stoop with our lights and decorations on. All of the kids were amazing and considerate of our property and the fact that other children would be coming after them. THANK YOU!”

The Wrap

Tim Wright builds putters one at a time in a glorified garage in Kenosha he calls "the lab," attaching the heads to hockey stick grips. His hockey stick putter has become the talk of the PGA Tour, and his website now gets 2,000 visits a day, up from 100. Quite the swing for a one-man show.
