HEALTH NEWS

  • Racine will get its second Federally Qualified Health Center in January 2026 at Ascension All Saints on Spring St, expanding affordable care (including women's health, dental, and behavioral health) for all residents (even if they lack insurance). Local health leaders say the new clinic will fill a long-standing gap in service access.  Racine County Eye
  • Small business owners and workers worry that if enhanced tax credits end later this year, rising ACA premiums will make health care hard to afford—local leaders said many might have to change jobs for better benefits. They warned that higher costs could slow local spending and hurt the area’s economy.  Racine County Eye
  • Patients in Racine feel stuck as a dispute between Ascension and UnitedHealthcare made Ascension providers out-of-network on October 1, leaving many to worry about losing familiar doctors or facing higher costs. Diane Dunk, a 71-year-old patient, said she may switch insurance during open enrollment starting October 15, but any new plan will not begin until January 1—potentially leaving a gap in her care.  Racine County Eye
